Welcome to Marella International Group of Schools.
Mrs. M. L. Adebisi, the Proprietress, founded the group in 1979.
The play group as in those days, had an initial population of only two students. Being a Portuguese national Married to a Nigerian, she tried to incorporate the best of her experiences as a student, teacher and a mother in Europe to the Nigerian method of learning. The result were remarkable and within a short period of time the population and reputation of the school had grown tremendously.
There was increased pressure from parents for the play group to develop a nursery and primary school, after a lot of persuasion, the wishes of the parents were acceded to and the nursery and primary section of the school began operation in 1983.
The success of this ventures prompted the parents to again pressurize the proprietress for a college. This pressure was resisted until 1997, when a core of four students, including the grandson of the proprietress and their parents, insisted that we must have Marella College.
The proprietress of the group of schools retired in 1999 after twenty years of building her ‘’dream’’ and handed over the mantle to her son and daughter-in-law Edward and Michelle Adebisi.
They are both very active in all aspects of the daily school activities. They also have their four children in the school to insist on the highest standards, not only for their own children, but also for all the children in their care.
The group of schools now boost of a student population of 220, with a staff body 67. We currently run two sites, one in Oluyole Estate Ibadan for the Nursery and Primary School and the other in Bodija for the College. There are also boys and girls dormitories.
Some of the graduates of Marella are currently on scholarship in Secondary Schools and Universities all over the world. Recently one of the school’s premier students Miss Simi Oruwariye graduated from the Harvard School of Medicine on a full scholarship. We have various alumni in first class Universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial College.
